Chapter 3 is out HERE (Nifty) and HERE (Literotica)
This week went pretty well, actually.
Granted, I had a bit of a hiccup with my Literotica release for Chapter 2, which pushed out any serious effort to Tuesday, because I find I can't focus on moving forward when I'm on tenterhooks, waiting to see if I need to do something to fix my submissions.
As it was, I had to replace a joke in dialog because Literotica somehow found it sexual - and inappropriately so - when it really wasn't something I'd ever ever ever thought of that way, but I shall not speak of this trauma. So Nifty and Literotica actually have slightly different dialog in one place - so one Internet Point* to anyone who finds it. (*Not redeemable anywhere, T&C's apply.)
But after that it went pretty well, and I managed to get chapters to my Beta Readers early. (As always, thanks to my Beta Readers, you guys are the best.)
I am sticking to schedule, and I'm now getting the chance to fill in the gaps I've left in some of the later chapters. So it's all going pretty well, but I've crunched the numbers and I realised that if I keep releasing at the current pace I'll only be done in October, which still seems a while away. Oh well. I'll reevaluate at a more suitable time. There's no point trying to pick up the pace if I'm not even sure I can yet.
I've joined a writing discord, so that's been pretty nice. I've met some pretty cool people, talked some shop and thrown around a lot of cool ideas. I've just had a lot of fun with the idea of being a writer lately, and thanks to the pandemic I've got time to follow this passion of mine and see what I can do, so yeah.
That's pretty much it for this week. I realise I can't write a super lengthy blog-post for every single chapter, although I don't think I've done too badly here.
Maybe I'll start peppering my posts eventually with commentary on other gay male topics - once I've worked up the confidence to decide the internet NEEDS my analysis of Love, Simon, or my half-baked theory on how Basil the Macedonian slept his way to the top spot of the Byzantine Empire.
I don't think I'll work those into chapter release blog posts though, so who knows. I'll probably just try and talk about writing some more. I would have this week, but I've been working very hard on various things, and I'm too exhausted for coherent self-analysis.
Notes on Differences (OMY vs AD)
Technically, this chapter just kind of doesn't exist in AD. My replacement for Chapter 3 of AD is actually going to be Chapter 4 of OMY, and Chapter 2 of AD was just so painfully short. This chapter basically sprung out of the earth because Jay, as a character, wouldn't get blackout drunk - so he needed a night worth writing about. I hope I did a good job.
This is also where I start to explore the (somewhat simple and not at all groundbreaking) idea that sure, finding a boyfriend is nice, but finding a cool group of people who understand you is also a pretty amazing thing. Other than that, I'm just hoping my story is starting to come out of a phase of establishing itself, and starting to progress into some 'action', in the physical, and romantic sense. I hope I did an okay job there too.
Volunteer Editors & Beta Readers:
I still haven't actually tried approaching any volunteer editors - I'm still trying to work out who it is exactly that I want editing my work, and what I want them to do. It feels so personal. I also wanted this chapter out there, because I feel like we're only really getting into the story now, so I'll probably ask soon.As for Beta Readers, I've got some great ones already, but there's always room for more. (Well, there's CURRENTLY room for more) and I'd really like anyone who wants to participate on board. You'll get the chapters early, especially if I keep being well-behaved and doing my work so fast.
Instead of tacking a lengthy appeal on the end of each blog post, I've actually made a page for this, so if you want to Beta Read, check it out HERE.
Thanks to my current Beta readers, who continue to be a huge help.
And thanks again everyone (anyone?) for reading, and may the odds be ever in your favour! Say hi in the comments! (If you want to. I'm not your boss.)
Good stuff enjoying the series so far
